Time to Revive and a Foray into Crochet!

I've been away for a while. Life sure is crazy sometimes that way, huh? I don't want to bore you all. Let's just say I had a lot of drama with some tragedy thrown in. The last month or so, I've been self medicating with yarn and needles (or in this case today, a crochet hook). I'm moving in about 9 days and I should be packing or cleaning, but here I am blogging and crafting. Huzzah, I am a true procrastinator! I just realized recently that I missed having an outlet to talk about my crafty side. I think people in my family or on my facebook just get tired of seeing me talk about it and post pictures. Non knitters/crocheters just don't "get it", do they?

So today, a friend of mine on Facebook was telling me how she wanted to learn to crochet. I had linked her to some tutorials and that is all it took for the crochet bug to bite my butt! I'm rusty at crochet, as I mostly have knitted ever since I learned how about 5 years ago. Lately, all I've wanted to make are small and/or practical things. I just can't commit to any long-term projects at the moment (and who am I kidding, I love the almost instant gratification of a small project).

I found an adorable pattern. So simple, yet adorable. They'd be great to sell at craft shows for good causes, unfortunately her terms of use does not allow that, so perhaps some people on my Christmas list will these tied onto their packages. I took a few pictures and added it to Ravelry (of course!). I'm not sure what the heck is going on with my camera, but the last handful of pictures I've taken have had that white "circle" on the top just like the "butterfly unfolded" picture has.

I'm not sure if my crochet skills are "up to snuff", so to speak, but I still think this thing turned out cute. I can just imagine it in holiday colors with glittery ribbon.
